Letters of William J. Pendleton [manuscript], 1849-1853.

The collection contains a letter, 1849, William Barret, Richmond, Va., to Pendleton, arranging for payment of "Nelson's" school board and tuition, discussing the ill-health of two of his slaves, and thanks Pendleton for help on several business matters. Another letter, 1850, written by William Sharp for Barret, gives Pendleton a statement of the cost and charges of a pianoforte. There is also a letter, 1853, from John Vowles, Charlottesville, Va., sending two refunding bonds and asking if Pendleton has any funds to pay over to Thomas N. Trice.
